Dad The Internet Isn't Working

Online School begins today (3/16/2020)

If your day is starting out with, I can't get to my homework because the wifi is down... I'm just gonna play video games...

If your child is having problems connecting to ItsLearning it is not likely it’s your home network. There are thousands of children trying to access the same sites.  Here are some helpful tips you can use to check your connection.

If your child say's "The Internet isn't working" here are some really simple things you can check to see if the problem is on your home network.. If you can complete these steps then you can in most cases know that your home networking and internet connection is working.

  1. Check another website: choose one you don’t often visit.
    1. Yahoo.com
    2. nasa.gov
    3. tanium.com
    4. Some other Random URL
If you can reach one or more of these sites you’re on the right track.

    This means:
  2. Check your bandwidth: with a bandwidth test. (Don’t do this every time)
    1. https://www.speedtest.net
    2. https://www.backblaze.com/speedtest
Testing your bandwidth is not necessary every time, if you can do step 1 above you’re probably good. Having a Bandwidth test though can give you a baseline of what connectivity speeds should look like for you.

Note: High latency results mean you may want to move closer to your wifi router or use a cabled internet connection (plug in the wire)

I'll may add additional steps.
