Back in the swing of things...

So this week starts my official 16week program on getting ready for the Mini-Marathon which is 5/2/2009. Did I mention that I am planning on doing a second the Geist Half Marathon on 5/16/2009. Guess this means it is time to get serious with the running. My goal this year is to break the 2hr mark and I must say that it is likely going to be a pretty tough challenge considering I have done little running since late last summer.

I've found that the Runners World smart coach works well for me. I've pretty much used it for all of my training. It has various options for how much running you're currently doing and what you have done in the past. I usually play with it till I get about what I'm looking for. :) I like the 3 days a week concept, I'm certain that some will suggest it isn't enough, but I can tell you it has worked for me in the past.

I tend to do my long days on Sundays, especially now that for all practical reasons football season is over. In fact, I did 4.32 miles just yesterday, mind you that was a combination of running and walking. I also often will push myself to go a little further than the schedule says... Its not a bad thing... :) usually.

Well I know that you're probably tired of reading about my running schedule. I'll try to keep you informed without all the gory details from now on.
