Dad The Internet Isn't Working

Online School begins today (3/16/2020)

If your day is starting out with, I can't get to my homework because the wifi is down... I'm just gonna play video games...

If your child is having problems connecting to ItsLearning it is not likely it’s your home network. There are thousands of children trying to access the same sites.  Here are some helpful tips you can use to check your connection.

If your child say's "The Internet isn't working" here are some really simple things you can check to see if the problem is on your home network.. If you can complete these steps then you can in most cases know that your home networking and internet connection is working.

  1. Check another website: choose one you don’t often visit.
    1. Yahoo.com
    2. nasa.gov
    3. tanium.com
    4. Some other Random URL
If you can reach one or more of these sites you’re on the right track.

    This means:
  2. Check your bandwidth: with a bandwidth test. (Don’t do this every time)
    1. https://www.speedtest.net
    2. https://www.backblaze.com/speedtest
Testing your bandwidth is not necessary every time, if you can do step 1 above you’re probably good. Having a Bandwidth test though can give you a baseline of what connectivity speeds should look like for you.

Note: High latency results mean you may want to move closer to your wifi router or use a cabled internet connection (plug in the wire)

I'll may add additional steps.

Will you please help us fight Crohn's and colitis?

Dear Friends and Family:

I want to thank all of you who have gernerously donated to support the fight against Crohn's and Colitis. So many of us have a friend or family member who has been impacted by these terrible diseases that affect more than 1.3 million people in America. Together we have raised $5778 dollars to fight.

My goal is to break the $7000 mark before the end of this campaign. With 2 weeks left we are only $1222 from that goal. My ultimate goal is $10,000 can we do it?

My Request to you:

  • If you can donate please do, this is an amazing organization that helps so many with Crohn's, colitis and other Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.
  • If you've already donated or are unable, please share this information with your family your friends and facebook. Share my link: http://online.ccfa.org/goto/IronMatt

Why am I doing this?

I want to share a personal story of one man's ongoing battle with Crohn's disease. My friend Joseph is one of the many reasons that I'm out here fighting. On hard training days and days I don't want to get up to train I think of him and the countless others who have suffered far more than most of us can ever imagine. Please Help however you can.

Here are his words:
I was diagnosed 15 years ago. I was working on my second bachelors degree in Chattanooga, TN (what a coincidence!!!) when I had come home for Christmas break. I started having a lot of abdominal pain at that time but dismissed it to all the wonderful holiday treats I had enjoyed. I was hospitalized soon after returning and after two weeks in the hospital, I was diagnosed with Crohn's

I was in my last semester so I struggled and fought through it so I could graduate on time. The day of my last class I came home to Indiana to spend some time with my family and hopefully recover. My second day home I started having sever pain and ended up in the ER. They took me in for emergency surgery where they removed 22" of my intestine and a small portion of my colon. Since that time I have had 5 additional surgeries bringing the total to 6. My last two surgeries were met with severe complications, one requiring an additional surgery to repair a "leak" that was expelling into my pelvic cavity and causing near sepsis.

The battle has been never ending. I am currently experiencing one of the worst flares I have had in my 15 years. I am on IV feedings and have lost about 30 pounds. I am 6'1" and currently weigh 107 pounds. I was already ridiculously thin, but now I look like Celine Dion's body double!

Through all this I have gone on to get my Master's degree in Social Work and have worked full time despite the pain and other non-pleasantries that come along with the disease. I am a fighter and refuse to give up.

In my previous life (which I call B.C. "Before Crohn's") I was very athletic and energetic. Since then, my life has drastically changed. I keep a great attitude and have an awesome sense of humor which has helped me on this journey. I also have a great support system through my family and friends, without whom I do not think I would be here today.

Again, you have no idea what all you are doing means to me.

-Joseph

IRONMAN Chattanooga 2015!

A message from Matthew Eash info@ccfa.org.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I’m excited to announce that with the support of my amazing family I’ll be training for my second IRONMAN. I will be training to complete IRONMAN Chattanooga with Team Challenge on September 27th in Chattanooga Tennessee. I am sure you're thinking, "Yeah, so what. Matt is running another race. He has done this before, should we be surprised?"

Maybe you’re not all that surprised, but you may be surprised to know that this year my race will be dedicated to help those who suffer with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. I will be completing the 140.6 mile journey to raise funds and awareness for research leading to a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Over the next 8 months I will be swimming, biking and running while raising funds to find a cure for this disease that has claimed over 1.4 million Americans.

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are known together as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. The cause of IBD remains unknown. However, the effectiveness of recently developed treatment methods and steady advances in research brings us closer every day to finding the cause and probable cure of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

My base goal is to raise over $5,000 for Team Challenge and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. I have a much larger stretch goal, we’ll talk more about that later. Over 80% of every dollar I raise will directly fund the mission of CCFA, to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by inflammatory bowel diseases.

I have made a commitment to complete this journey in 2015 and bring us closer to providing hope, peace, and freedom to individuals battling IBD. I am hopeful you will join me in the fight against Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. You can help by visiting the link at the bottom of this email and helping the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. Donations are tax deductible, and don’t forget to check and see if your company may match donations. No donation is too small!

Along the way I plan to share stories of friends and family who have been impacted by Chron’s or ulcerative colitis. I’d love for you to share your story with me so that together we can raise awareness!

Thank you so much for your generosity and support!

2014 Chicago Marathon

I'm Matt Eash and I'm an amateur endurance athlete. Since 2006 I've competed in both running and triathlon events. Following a visit to the emergency room in February of 2013 I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. In May of 2013,while away from home in California I experienced a major diverticulitis attack . Narrowly avoiding an emergency bowel resection, this required a 4 day hospital stay. At the time I had already been training for my first Ironman 70.3 and my first Chicago Marathon. I was told these plans were over. I was devastated, all my training and planning for not.

After returning home and explaining my race plans to my physician he came up with a plan to allow me to continue training for my Ironman 70.3. A glimmer of hope knowing there was still a chance to complete my goal! With the amazing support of my running group, the Magic Milers I was able to continue training and complete my first every Half Ironman!

I had bowel resection surgery in July just two weeks after my Half Ironman and at that point was again told that I wouldn't be able to complete the Chicago Marathon. I had already recovered from being told once, but this second time seemed more real. However, after my required time off I began slowly training again. It wasn't until the week before the Chicago Marathon that I had finally decided I would participate. A crazy idea probably, but I was determined to hit my goals! I finished in 05:01:01, not my best time but a time I was proud of. With the help of my physician, my family and my Milers I had concurred my disease and achieved my goals!

This year, I've been presented with an amazing opportunity to join Team Challenge and help others with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). My goal is to raise over $1500 while training for and completing the Chicago Marathon! I want to help find ways to cure and treat IBD so that those impacted can receive improved treatments and reduce the daily impact to their lives.

You can help by donating, it's simple and anything you can offer is appreciated! I'll be posting training updates and events on my blog at http://meash20.blogspot.com. I'm super excited for the journey to follow and I hope you'll be a part of it!

2013 A Year in Review

As I reflect on this year I have so much to be thankful of. This year has been trying both mentally and physically. I had set some pretty lofty goals this year, and I'm proud to say that even when I was told I couldn't I did.  It really is amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it.

Here's a look at my year in review. I've added some notes in between the events.

- Jan 2nd, 2013 Registered for Ironman Muncie 70.3

- Feb 18th, 2013: Diagnosed with Diverticulitis (Emergency Room Visit)

- May 4th, 2013: Indianapolis Mini Marathon (Run 13.1 Miles - 2:16:49)

- May 13th, 2013: Admitted to Hospital in California

*I spent 4 days in the hospital; it was here where I was told that my Ironman goal was over. I was devastated. I actually believed it too. I mean I had a tiny hole in my colon...

- May 16th, 2013: Discharged from El Camino

* I got home and started working out again; I was determined that if I worked I could do it!

- June 8th, 2013 Muncie Sprint Triathlon (400yard swim / 20.6k bike / 5k run - 1:24:22)

* testing myself I completed a sprint triathlon, and I felt really good!

- July 13th, 2013: Ironman Muncie 70.3 Finisher (1.2 Mile Swim / 56 Mile Bike / 13.1 Mile Run: - 6:25:37)

* I did it! With the support of my family, my Dr. and many others I completed my half Ironman!

- July 16th, 2013: Pound the Pavement (5k Run - 27:57)

- July 27th, 2013: Summit Lake Sprint Triathlon (400yard swim / 13.5 mile bike / 5k run - 1:24:20)

* This tri was my first the year before, my goal was to beat the time from one year prior. I did!

- ** July 29th, 2013: Surgical Bowel Resection

* Again, told I would be done for the season. I mean another 4 days in the hospital, 7 inches of my colon removed and at least 4 weeks no running (right)... I may have cheated a little but I was back at it as soon as possible.

- Oct. 13th, 2013: Chicago Marathon (26.2 Mile Run - 5:01:01)

* Another huge Milestone for me this year! I was able to come back from surgery and being down to complete my second ever Full marathon!

- Nov. 17th, 2013: Big Sur half marathon (2:10:29)

Long time coming

Clearly I suck at blogging every day... so much time has passed since my last post so I'll try to update you from the start.

Jan. 2nd 2013:
I signed up for Ironman Muncie 70.3. I was already training well and progressing pretty good.

I also set a goal to run a 13.1 distance every month this year! Pretty ambitious but attainable.

February 18th:
I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis and had a visit to the Emergency room where I was directed to a colon dr. He placed me on meds and scheduled me for a colonoscopy to check out the situation. I was off from working out a few days and this ultimately didn't impact my training too much.

I spent the month of Feb and March traveling for work. I was managing to get my 13.1 runs in even when traveling. One of them I actually ran in Helsinki Finland, that was pretty cool!

May was filled with some more travel of which one trip was to California to my HP office headquarters. When I arrived on Sunday May 12 I wasn't feeling very good and I figured my diverticulitis was acting up again...

Sadly I was right, Monday I trudged through work at the office doing my best to manage the pain, I'd called my family doctor to get some antibiotics ... But by that afternoon I was in serious pain. My colleague was kind enough to drive me to the ER where they did a CT scan that showed indeed I had another outbreak... Only problem was that this time was a lot worse and included a small hole in my intestine. I wasn't prepared for their next update which was that I was going to have to have emergency surgery to resolve the problem.

The doctors where really cautious and I got admitted to the PCU (Progressive Care Unit, one less than ICU). After a while they decided that they were going to treat me through the night and see how I was in the AM. I was taking antibiotics via IV, and morphine for pain. The next day my wife had flown out to be with me. It was so nice to have someone I loved finally by my side. Every time a dr. would visit we'd ask about surgery and they became less and less focused on that.

Now, flashing back to the point where they said surgery, I was crushed... my goals of completing my first Half Ironman gone... All the training and commitment I'd put into the race wasted... And now even now after the idea of surgery passed many were saying I'd never be able to do it..

My Wed it was clear that I wasn't going to have surgery and that now they just wanted to watch me and make sure I was getting better and no fever. Thursday afternoon I was finally able to leave the hospital.

The following Monday I saw my colon Dr. and he gave me 3 options. 1) do nothing, hope it doesn't happen again soon. This was unlikely considering I'd had two issues within 2 months, and the second episode was a lot worse than the first. ... 2) Meds for a long time to see if that helped avoid future problems. Trouble was that the meds had a low success rate and weren't tested on people in my age group... 3) Surgery to remove the bad section of colon. The good news here was that research shows that less than 3% of the time are there any issues after this type of fix.

Of course I asked the Dr. the important question about my race and training. To my delight the Dr. agreed that training and racing had little impact on this and that we'd schedule the surgery for after the race.

I was back to training after having missed about 2 weeks of it. I was running out of time and becoming more nervous about the upcoming race every day... Was I ready?

Fast forward ...

July 13th Arrives ... It's go time! Race Day! The day I'd been training for!

Swim 1.2 Miles: 43:19
T1: 4:29
Bike 56 Miles: 2:55:45
T2: 4:40
Run 13.1 Miles: 2:37:24
Total: 6:25:37

I killed my goal time of <7:00:00 ...="" 6:30:00="" a="" and="" blast="" br="" even="" goal="" had="" i="" my="" nbsp="" of="" stretch="" too.="" wow="">

Now, it time to prep for the surgery. ... and now you're caught up. I'm going to try to post more frequently maybe it will help me be less grumpy about the surgery and recover (no workout) time...

Commitment

Prior to 2005 I'd never considered distance or endurance events. It was by chance in Fall 2005 when I needed to be in Panama City Florida for work. My flight to Florida got delayed and canceled which led to getting stuck overnight in Atlanta with Ironman Florida competitors.

The IM event happened to be the day I was heading home, however I was able to go to the start and witness the emotional power of the event. Inspired by those competing, I signed up for my first half marathon (500 Festival Mini-Marathon) from the hotel's computer and actually ran on the hotel treadmill that very day.

I made it back in the afternoon and managed to see both of the competitors I'd traveled with at around the 15 mile mark of the marathon. I was so in awe of the event that I ended up staying too long and actually missed my flight home.

Signing up for this 70.3 had been 6 years in the making, I completed my first and only marathon in March 2008. I've managed 5 half-marathons, and in 2012 I completed 3 Sprint distance triathlons and my training has been consistant with the ulitmate goal being the completion of a full IronMan at some point in the future.

Training for such an event is a huge commitment, one that I couldn't do without the support of my wife. As the parents of 5 kids, I could never have considered such a commitment without her support. Today, is the day that I commit to my ulitmate goal of IronMan, and this 70.3 is the halfway point to many exciting days to come!

Today, I signed up for the Muncie 70.3 Half Ironman. The event is on July 13th 2013.

The Past Two Months, have been awesome.

I'm not generally one to push products that I sell. But I want to share with you about my personal experiences with the AdvoCare products. I really can't put into words my excitement about how these products work...

2 months ago I started the AdvoCare 24 day challenge. Over the past 2 months, I've been using a core set of products that have been improving my performance and helping me feel great about working out and staying focused on improving my overall health and fitness. I can say without a doubt that my desire to workout has never been this high, my performance has never been this good, and I've never felt so amazing after completing my workout. Today (8/21/2012) I actually set a new Personal Record(PR) time for a 10k and I feel amazing.

I attribute this to a handful of AdvoCare Products listed below, that I've been using in an attempt to learn more about the products and see how they work first hand... I'll be honest, I didn't expect the products to work, but they really do

It's no joke this stuff works... Using these products I've completed 3 sprint triathlons, a Warrior Dash and set a PR for both my 5k and 10k distance... Oh, and I've lost 18 lbs...

If you're an athelete, looking to get back into fitness shape or just want to loose a few pounds.  Rachelle and I can help you. Feel free to contact me for more information or questions. Meash20@Gmail.com or 765-734-3274.

Does Advocare Work?

I'll be straight forward... 6-8 months ago when I first heard of Advocare I thought, oh boy another gimmick. I've never been a fan of so called wonder plans. I've hated diets because they all seem fake and unmaintainable. Who wants to be stuck eating specific foods andmonitoring it all, certainly not me!

My wife Rachelle started using a few products, Spark: an energy drink and a snack bar here and there. I wasn't too into it, but I went along for the ride to support her and her Zumba business. I'd heard about a 24 day challenge and thought again, great another thing to spend money on...

A few months later we went camping with some friends. One of them mentioned they were going to try the challenge, and she was talking about a cleanse. It all sounded bizarre to me.

A week or two later Rachelle said we should try the challenge to seew hat it was about, I begrudgingly agreed to trying it out.

I started the 10 day cleanse phase and decided I'd really do it. The cleanse phase is essentially a preparation for your body, a chance to free some of the junk that's been building up so that your body is able to process the max phase. The first few days of the cleanse felt awkward, as I mentioned I was only doing this to appease my wife. What was weird though was that I was actually starting to feel different. A good different a fulfilled different... I started wondering if maybe this was actually working... But it couldn't be right?

The 14 day max phase started and I was feeling even better than before. Even before the challenge I had been running and training for upcoming races, but my training changed. My runs felt easy, energy was consistent and I didn't feel sore or tired afterward. It was something I'd never experienced during previous training plans...

Not only was I feeling better, but I noticed that my clothes werefitting different, the shorts I bought at the start of spring were getting loose, and I was losing weight!

I really truly was surprised! I was losing weight, feeling great andgetting back into shape!  This all impacted my training, I found withmy new energy I wanted to workout more often, and for longer times!

Here are a few other side effects that came along with this. 1) I cut back almost completely on coffee, no longer a slave to the caffeine I'd been addicted to. 2) I didn't crave junk and other unhealthy foods 3) I stopped drinking so much beer... 4) My recurring sinus problems have resided and I'm breathing and sleeping better than ever! 5) I regained my confidence to be able to walk around without a shirt on, something the extra pounds had previously prevented me from doing.

My training had progressed so well that I actually signed up for my first Sprint Triathlon, which is coming up this Saturday!

You're asking me why am I sharing this? Here's the thing, Advocarereally does work. I'm telling you this as someone who didn't believe it would, but it did! I am so convinced that Rachelle and I are now Advocare advisors who can help you achieve your goals too.

If you're looking to change your life, feel better and get healthier I encourage you to take a look at Advocare.  I'd be happy to spend sometime with you and share my experience in more detail.  We can help you determine how to start and what to consider.

Phone, email, txt, or FB message me and I'll give you more information. You'll be glad you did !!! Here's a sample of my results!
